Some people are allergic to fools. When they see others being treated poorly, or ridiculous statements being thrown around, or insults served without shame, they feel an urge to stand up and remind everyone that this world is a place for justice.

And if you've been an avid user on social media like most of us, you know how much nonsense is spilled there every day. Luckily, a fair share of people don’t miss their chance to share a social justice take publicly, because every illuminating, educating, and clarifying post helps.

And this Facebook page known as “Feminist Info” is a great place for putting a spotlight on the issues that matter but don't get talked about enough. This also means that the page has a wonderful collection of social justice takes spotted online, and below we selected some of the best examples.

I want to sell t-shirts that read: "I am more than a uterus!" but I'm sure the incels would burn my house down or something.

Exactly this. My country (🇫🇮) offers many, many benefits and ways to support struggling people that I have not needed and hopefully never will. I still support free or almost free chemotherapy, insulin, other medicine, parental leave, day care, unemployment support etc. If my neighbour gets help because of my taxes, well that's money well spent then.

just because you dont want or need doesn't mean others lives wouldn't be greatly improved by the things you already have , like health care , housing , FOOD , i'm sick of the "i'm alright so screw you" attitude , especially when it comes from the religious , any religious person who does not practice what they preach should stop preaching

In the States, this is a position taken mostly by conservatives. They don't care about an issue until it affects them or their family. People on the left though are able to empathize with people who are not like them and have problems that they don't have. They just have more heart!

My state has a lot of high taxes people complain about butI don't mind paying because when I was down and out they supported a lot of programs that helped me immensely. I'm pretty much back on my feet because of that and have no problem supporting other people now by paying my taxes to help improve other people's lives

But you see people don't want others to have a better life. Even when that means they get screwed as well. That's the reality of so many peoples mindset in this world. They want their own kind starving, homeless, uneducated, unhealthy, and uncomfortable. That's their stance when they say people don't deserve to earn enough money. People like that literally do not want better for anyone including themselves and it's just sad and inhumane to be honest.

I like Daniel Kahnemans' idea that we should focus on the reduction of misery, we can do that through the above mentioned actions. These ideas won't make you rich, more money really doesn't buy you more happiness. Being supported by the above ideas will help alleviate aspects that cause misery.

It seems like there is this mentality of "If I don't benefit from it directly, I don't care." I'm not sure how so many of these people grew up to be so selfish. These are the same people that earn six figure salaries and panic at having their taxes increased because they may not be able to afford to by a new car every other year or get the fashionable accessories to keep up with their friends. I've never tried to play the popularity contest with people because there is no point. You're letting other people dictate how you should live your life and you are constantly worried about what other people think of you. How is that a happy life?

I always feel almost guilty asking for basic needs and being treated with minimal human decency. At the end of the day we’ve all been programmed to believe that we need to work hard to simply live

    Will Cross

Like you said, we've been manipulated and convinced that us simply existing makes us not valuable. We've been fooled, brainwashed into thinking that we do not deserve even our most basic of needs to be met if we don't do something for it. It's quite evil, wrong, and inhumane when you think about how we as a species have been conditioned to think that the way it is is normal. There should be no conditions on human beings eating or having the things we all need to literally stay alive. Forcing humans to abide by certain rules and using money as a way to control the things we all desperately need to stay alive and carry on day to day. To deny humans food, water, shelter, or anything else we need if we don't have money or enough money is horrible and completely insane to do to so many people. Yet not to many people see how awful that really is. Especially when there is enough food and water and the things we all need to maintain us all. When you really sit back and think about the systems put in place. You can't possibly deny just how messed up it all really is. Once you realize it and it hits you, it's hard to process just how fooled we all are when it comes to humanity and how far away we are from being decent to our own kind and people being comfortable, stable, and enjoying our existence and just wanting the things we need to live.

“Does it directly effect me? No. That’s because I’m a selfish person who doesn’t care about anyone and loves to b**ch about how I have to pay taxes and get nothing out of it. I will vote for any politician that can lower my taxes regardless of how he/she might act or divide the country” I will never understand why people are like this. Or how to change that line of thinking. How about we demand change at the source (big pharma, college loans, etc.)that has put us where we are to begin with???? I guess greed really is the root of all evil.

I remember seeing a woman online who had no kids and wasn't planning to, wondering why she should pay to send other people's kids to school. No amount of explanation by others made the slightest bit of difference. I never had kids either and it never occurred to me to resent paying taxes for schooling other people's kids. In fact, I consider it a privilege and a duty. Because at the end of the day, we all pay for things we don't personally use, but we are certainly grateful when those services are available when we need them. I may have not had kids needing to be schooled but I have had other needs that I have gotten help with. And even if I hadn't, at least I did something to contribute to the betterment of our society.

I support these things for purely selfish reasons. I don't want to deal with depressed, overworked moms and neglected kids raised by the cheapest babysitter. I don't want unfulfilled, bitter people around me who had dreams but not the money to chase them. I don't want McDonald's stuff to spit in my food because they are treated like dirt and not paid enough to live on and that's the only win they can have. I'd like people around me to feel safe about their daily needs so not stress all the time about them, and for them to have time for a personal life as well.

Because those people who complain about not getting a living wage are ALSO taxpayers, dumbass. The US has the highest population of working homeless. The wealth gap is astounding. This country is NOT okay, but yeah, go ahead and b***h about the notion of your taxes being used to make your society better.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” the iconic words from a moving letter from Birmingham jail were written by MLK Jr. in 1963. The powerful sentence followed: “We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.” While MLK Jr. was specifically talking about racism in America and the necessity of all people to stand up for injustice wherever they see it, it showed how we are all connected in many more ways than we think. So a simple gesture of standing up against injustice, whether online or in real life is incredibly important.

Even though many people realize the importance of calling out the injustice, whether it’s racism or homophobia, there has been a disturbing increase in hate speech in the U.S. in recent years. A recent report by the Special Rapporteur on minority issues, Dr Fernand de Varennes, showed that the “efforts in the fight against ‘the tsunami of hate and xenophobia in social media’ appear to be largely failing because hate is increasing, not diminishing.”

"In many countries, three-quarters or more of the victims of online hate speech are members of minority groups. Women belonging to these groups are disproportionately targeted,” he reported in a speech during the 13th Forum on Minority Issues at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.

"Too often, hate speech is followed by hate crimes and violence," says de Varennes. "It can too easily prepare the ground for dehumanization and scapegoating of minorities, and for normalizing hate. We need to learn from history and place all our efforts in erasing hate speech from the online space."

Hate speech and bigotry aside, it’s impossible not to notice how judgemental social media can be. Too many people online and especially minorities have experienced poor treatment and harsh criticism. What makes it particularly hard is the fact that we as a society have a lot to improve when it comes to calling out injustice and standing up for those who are vulnerable.

At the same time, it’s important to dig deeper into the reasons behind a judgemental attitude. We reached out to Dr. Lise Deguire, clinical psychologist and author of a multiple award-winning book “Flashback Girl: Lessons on Resilience From a Burn Survivor” who shared some eye-opening insights.

In most cases, Dr. Deguire argues, those who judge others tend to be just as harshly judgemental about themselves. “In my clinical experience, the people who are most judgmental towards others are secretly the most harshly judgemental towards themselves. Inside, these people are highly self-critical. It is no wonder then that they treat others the same way they treat themselves, critically and harshly. Frequently, when these people learn to be more loving and accepting towards themselves, they also become more tolerant and sympathetic towards others,” Dr. Deguire explained.

@Miven's post... I think this is a valid question and didn't deserve all the downvotes. Maybe just nicely explain instead of getting their account suspended with downvotes.

At the same time, judgment hurts people from the inside out. Dr. Deguire explained that people's judgment and criticism of us feel absolutely terrible, sometimes even devastating. “When this happens, the first thing to do is to notice your own pain and distress and to treat yourself kindly. It hurts, plain and simple. Having compassion for your pain will help you bear it.”

“Once you have recovered from the hurt of being judged, it is good to remember that anyone judging you that harshly is probably in a lot of pain themselves,” Lise said and added that awareness may help you to move beyond the hurt of the moment.

The issue is more that somehow a lot of the people who say that "happens to men too" - don't seem to actually do anything about it except mentioning that to a woman when the issue is raised. They are usually the first to ridicule other men who try to talk about the issue. In other words - if the only reason you mention that it happens to men is just to try and silence women - you're still a !@$#!@

you wanna hear something truly heartbreaking? I am a heavy woman, and honest to God, the only time I've EVER been loudly, verbally assaulted in public by someone else for my weight, it was another woman. Absolutely ridiculous. Soon as women start turning on each other this way, then that means all the chauvinistic, Patriarchy-loving a-holes have won. That, plus what's going on right now with Roe v. Wade overturning, it's a rough time to be a woman....
